Animal Shelter
The Tooele City Animal Shelter falls under the jurisdiction of the Tooele City Police Department. They have Animal Control Officers who are responsible for enforcing the animal control ordinance of the City and protecting residents from violent and destructive animals. Any questions and concerns about animal control issues can be taken through the Tooele City Police Department by calling 435.882.5600.
Mission: promote public health and safety within our community by providing professional sheltering services for stray or dangerous pets.
The shelter is closed to the public. Operating hours will be Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and is by appointment only. If you are trying to reclaim your animal, you must contact the shelter by phone at 435.882.4607 and arrange a time with the shelter staff. The animal shelter no longer accepts owner surrendered dogs or cats. Animals to be impounded will only be accepted through Animal Control and/or Police Officers. Residents need to report dangerous animals or strays to dispatch at 435.882.5600 option 1.

For Your Pet’s Safety!
- Keep a collar, ID tags, and a current City license on your pet at all times. Also please consider microchipping your pet at your local veterinarian’s office.
- Ensure that your pet is supervised or safely confined on your property at all times.
- Spay or neuter your pets and keep each of your pets current on all necessary vaccinations, especially the rabies vaccination.
