The Dow James Complex is named in honor of Lauren Dow and Daniel James who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting a wildfire near Stockton to protect the citizens of Tooele County. To learn more about these local heroes, please visit the Firefighter Tribute page.
 
The Dow James Building hosts a wide variety of community and private events. Past uses include indoor walking, basketball practices and games, boutiques, the annual Gem and Mineral Show, and family gatherings. The building also served as the home of the Boys & Girls Club for 20 years, until the organization opened its new facility in September 2023. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Amenities include a kitchen, basketball courts, a pickleball court, and more. A designated indoor walking path is available during the colder months—typically October through April, weather permitting—at various scheduled times.

Floor Care & Usage Guidelines
The gym floors were refinished in recent years, and we ask for your help in keeping them in excellent condition so they may be enjoyed by the community for years to come. To protect the flooring, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, and other recreational items with hard wheels are not permitted inside the Dow James Building.

This policy does not apply to mobility devices. Wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices are welcome, as accessibility for all users remains a priority.

For activities involving wheeled recreation, individuals are encouraged to reserve the Community Center, which is designed for these uses and offers additional amenities and activities. To reserve the Community Center visit https://tooelecity.activityreg.com/selectfacility_t2.wcs

General/Business Use	$30/hour & $50 Key/Damage Deposit Maximum $200/day	Reservations for each year open on the first business day of December in the preceding year. Must make reservation online.
Community Event/Non-profit	$15/hour & $50 Key/Damage Deposit Maximum $60/day	Reservations for each year open on the first business day of December in the preceding year. Must make reservation online.  Each date requested must be entered individually at time of registration.  Must provide a current certificate of liability insurance naming Tooele City as an additional insured and must have a $3,000,000 aggregate. May have additional requirements such as a Tooele City Business License or Special Event Permit. Must provide proof of nonprofit status [501(c)3)] or you will be required to make the reservation under the general/business use.
Health & Recreation Use	$15/hour & $50 Key/Damage Deposit 1 hour per team, per week Reservation period = 3 months Maximum $60/day	Reservations for January – March will open on the first business day of December in the preceding year (for example reservations open December 1, 2023 for January 2024 reservations). Reservations for April – June will open the 1st business day of the month prior to the reservation period. Reservations for July – September will open the 1st business day of the month prior to the reservation period. Reservations for October – December will open the 1st business day of the month prior to the reservation period. Must make reservation online. Each date requested must be entered individually at time of registration.  Must provide a current certificate of liability insurance naming Tooele City as an additional insured and must have a $3,000,000 aggregate. Liability insurance certificates may be emailed to parksandrec@tooelecity.gov. Must provide proof of nonprofit status or you will be required to make the reservation under the general/business use.
